Intimate partner abuse can continue after a couple separates. This is called “post-separation abuse”.
Post-separation abuse tactics often focus on the children and the couple’s finances or property. An abuser might use technology to stalk and monitor you and the legal system to challenge you.
To learn more, see a list of common post-separation abuse tactics, including examples of legal abuse.
Sometimes the abuse gets worse right after separation. This can be a dangerous time for a woman and her children. If you are concerned about immediate safety, contact 911.
